The US Coast Guard recently issued Workforce Investment Agency participants from Tinian their five-year Merchant Mariner Credential to operate uninspected passenger vessels as defined in 46 U.S.C. 2101 (42)(B) upon near coastal water not more than 100 miles offshore.
WIA participants were involved in a 56-hour rigorous course with an approved service provider and are required to sit for the examination. Upon passing, participants are allowed a year from completing the course to satisfy other USCG application requirements for licensure.
DOL-WIA Division and the entire Department of Labor are very proud of their accomplishments and congratulate its participants as they move forward with their careers.
This is only one of many career training programs under the DOL-Workforce Investment Agency Division. For more information on this program or any others, visit Bldg. 1215 on Capital Hill, call 664-1708/1757/1705/1704, or go online at www.wia.gov.mp. (PR)
