29 register for NMIFA D license course
Northern Mariana Islands Football Association will kick off its long list of activities for 2015 with a D license course for coaches this weekend.

NMIFA technical director and CNMI National Men’s Team coach Kiyoshi Sekiguchi will conduct the course with the help of Saipan Soccer School’s Jershwin Angeles.
The Saturday and Sunday sessions will both be held at the Koblerville Elementary School from 9am to 5pm with a one hour and a half break per each day. The course will be a two-weekend affair with the final one set for Jan. 24 to 25 at the same venue and time.
As of yesterday, 29 individuals have registered for the course, which will hold both classroom sessions and practical lessons. The practical session will cover six hours of the course, while five hours will be devoted to classroom lessons. Written and practical exams will also take place after the two-weekend course.
A D license course, according to Asian Football Confederation, is the second step in coaching progression. E license is the first with participants attending only a one-day session and no tests are given. E license course participants are introduced to the basic rules of the sport, while D license focused more on coaching principles, the game’s techniques and drills, ways to conduct small-sided games and organize training sessions, nutrition and health, and understanding the players’ behavior depending on their age group.
The seven NMIFA-member clubs—MP United Football Club, Paire FC, Tan Holdings FC, Kanoa FC, Shirley’s FC, Matansa FC, and Tinian Premier FC—are allowed to send two coaches each in the two-day course.
Meanwhile, clubs joining the 2015 Youth League Spring League have only until today to inform NMIFA of the number of teams they will be fielding in the season-opening competition.
The sevens clubs are asked to enter teams in the co-ed U6, U8, U10, and U12, and boys and girls U15, and boys U18 age groups.
A managers/coaches meeting will be held this Friday, while deadline for submission of rosters is set for Jan. 31. Registration forms must be filled out and submitted on or before Feb. 4, as the season will open on Feb. 6.
