Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon scheduled for Feb. 14
It’s the perfect Valentine’s Day weekend getaway, a romantic vacation on Tinian for the 15th Annual Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon and Reef Swim and the 11th Tinian Hot Pepper Festival.
The triathlon on Feb. 14 will feature a 1.5K swim, 40K bike, and 10Krun, while the reef swim will offer three courses: 1.5K 3K, and 4.5K There is no time limit for the races, offering all competitors the opportunity to enjoy the satisfaction of completing the event. The festival will be held on Feb. 14-15.
“Feb. 14-15 is a 3-day weekend with Valentine’s Day on Saturday and President’s Day on Monday,” pointed out Marianas Visitors Authority (MVA) community projects Manager Martin Duenas. “That’s great timing for a memorable weekend of recreation and relaxation on Tinian.”
The Tinian Turquoise Blue Triathlon and Reef Swim is co-sponsored by the MVA, KFC Triathlon Club of Japan, Tinian Mayor’s Office, and the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino.
Registration costs are: $80 for solo triathletes, $60/member for triathlon teams of two or three members, and $60 for reef swim only (all distances). Registration fee includes the awards party on event day, a commemorative t-shirt, and swim cap. Registration will be held at the Tinian Dynasty Hotel & Casino poolside on Feb. 13 from 6-7 p.m., with the mandatory pre-race briefing from 6:30-7pm at the same venue. Cash payment only. The awards banquet will be held on Feb. 14 at 6pm at Kammer Beach.
