Weighing 8 lbs, Xu was born at 1:02am, becoming the third child in the family. His mother, Ying Wu, 40, was transferred to a room in the OB ward at 4am.

Although Wu could not speak English very well, she communicated that she is happy to have her baby, this time a son. Wu has two daughters, who are both in China. The eldest daughter is 17 years old while the youngest is 5 years old.

CHC OB nurse Lalaine Divina became the caretaker for Wu and her baby once they got transferred to the OB ward.

According to Divina, OB physician Dr. Helen Taro and two other labor and delivery nurses, Anabel Mocon and Jennifer Demapan, helped deliver the baby.

Since Wu couldn’t speak English very well and there was no translator, she was accompanied to the hospital by her aunt since her husband is in China.

Divina said there was a second baby born on New Year’s day but Wu’s baby was the first to be born this year.

According to the nurses, the baby is healthy and lively.
