Taiwan travel agents, media impressed with NMI ocean
Taiwan travel agents and media visited Saipan and Tinian this month to promote the Northern Mariana Islands and its annual signature event Hell of the Marianas bike race.
Travel agents and media reps from Taiwan visited Paseo de Marianas in Garapan with Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio, in red, on Dec. 6, 2014, as part of their FAM(iliarization) tour of Saipan and Tinian. (MVA)
“The group was very impressed with the colors of our ocean and our rich natural resources,” said Marianas Visitors Authority marketing director Bruce Bateman. “In fact, they said we have the most beautiful ocean they’ve ever seen.”
While on Saipan the group toured Managaha, scenic sites in the northern Marpi area, and Santa Lourdes shrine. They also filmed at Paseo de Marianas, Kinpachi Restaurant, the Fiesta Resort & Spa dinner show, and at T Galleria and I Love Saipan retail stores. Inspections were made at Kanoa Resort Saipan and Pacific Islands Club Saipan, where the group lodged.
On Tinian the group took an island tour and experienced snorkeling, kayaking, horseback riding, a dune buggy tour, and an aerial tour.
Giant Bicycle Company travel service agent Aya Li joined the 100K race, saying the race was aptly named and one of the most difficult races she’s ever participated in. The group filmed at the race finish line and the race awards banquet at Mariana Resort & Spa.
“The group was amazed at the Christmas trees and ornaments constructed by local students at Paseo de Marianas,” said Bateman. “They seem to appreciate how the community works together so closely.”
Participating media were Giant Travel, Police Radio Broadcasting Station, Travel Rich magazine, Travel New Age magazine, Power News on-line media, and Yangmura Studio. Representatives of Pacific Islands Club’s Taiwan office also participated. Publication coverage of the islands in the participating media is slated for December 2014 and January 2015. (MVA)
