Department of Community and Cultural Affairs buried Customs in an avalanche of points, 101-68, in their playoff match in the 2014 IT&E-DYS Inter-government Basketball League last night at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

With the rout, DCCA earned the right to face Feds at 6:30pm tonight for the second and last finals seat with the winner advancing against Northern Marianas Sports Association. NMSA clinched the first championship berth after escaping with a 68-67 win over Feds and earned the twice-to-beat advantage.

Game 1 of the finals is set this Friday at 6:30pm, while Game 2, if necessary, will be played on Dec. 22, also at the same time.

DCCA used a second-quarter scoring spree to pull away and cruise to the lopsided win.

Ray Deleon Guerrero Jr., Joe Ito, Edgar Pangelinan, and Tim Wesley combined for 30 of DCCA’s 34 points in the second period, helping turn a 19-11 lead to a 53-22 halftime spread.

DCCA just cruised from there and never let its guard down to completely dominate Customs the entire match.

Tim Wesley scored 18 points to lead five other DCCA players who turned in double-digit numbers. He also had 5 rebounds and one assist. Sweet-shooting Edgar Pangelinan finished with 16 markers and buried four of DCCA’s eight shots from downtown. Deleon Guerrero Jr. and Perry Inos tallied 12 points apiece, while Robert Deleon Guerrero and Joe Ito, who also had a team-high 5 steals, chipped in 10 markers each.

L.J. Reyes paced Customs’ losing cause with his 27 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 5 steals, while Jack Cepeda tallied 14 markers and Dave Camacho finished with 10 points, 15 rebounds, and 6 steals.

Customs played without Leo Galarse, who dropped 19 points in their 61-57 win against Department of Public Safety last Monday.

DCCA 101–Wesley 18, Pangelinan 16, R. Deleon Guerrero Jr. 12, Inos 12, Ro. Deleon Guerrero 10, Ito 10, Aaron 9, John 2, Manabat 2.

Customs 68—Reyes 27, Cepeda 14, Camacho 10, Saralu 8, Fitial 7, Lizama 2.
