Undercard fighters also proved their worth and put on a show inside the octagon in last Friday’s Trench Warz 18: Rock & Rumble at the packed Royal Taga Hall of the Saipan World Resort.

Eleven matches served as appetizer to Frank “The Crank” Camacho’s winning return bout in a Trench Warz event and Roman “Boom” Alvarez 145-pound title win against deposed champion Rob “The Real Deal” Wusstig.

Jadrien “BonBon” Camacho opened up the night with a TKO victory over Jimmy Kaipat, beating his opponent with 1:12 in the second round via elbows.

Denny Jepen then followed it up with a win against Rai Norita via armbar submission in the 1:59 mark of the opening round, while Guam’s Dino “NHB” Cruz ended LJ “Makpo” George’s unbeaten streak.

Jonathan “Outlaw” Camacho foiled Team Zalaka’s Bradlee Manalo’s Trench Tech debut with their fight going the judges’ scorecards and the former winning via unanimous decision.

Mike Picini of Guam Muay Thai, in the next fight, won by TKO against Ben Flores of Team Marianas Elite after forcing his opponent to retire with 1:12 gone in the second round, following a powerful kick on Flores’ chest.

The 5’5” Jones Langu used his height and reach advantage in defeating the 5’0” Allan “The Silver Bullet” Aguon by way of rear naked choke in 1:29 of the first round, while John Tudela defeated Jamaal Mresbang after the latter retired with the second round was about to start.

The eighth fight was a Guam versus Saipan match between Eric “Gatti” Gatman of Guam Muay Thai and Trench Tech’s “Shiska” Bob Alvarez. Both fighters never held back and gave it their all since a lot of pride was at stake. Gatman used a triangle choke to force Alvarez to submission in the 3:08 mark of Round 2.

Team Tinian’s Paul Ayuyu was looking for some payback when he faced Trench Tech’s Jordan Manglona. Both fighters competed in last month’s Art of War 9: Grappling, Submission and Jiu where Manglona defeated Ayuyu twice in the finals of their bantamweight and featherweight bouts.

The match went the full three rounds and Ayuyu seemed headed to victory when he had the clear advantage over Manglona. But the Trench Tech fighter managed to get out of his stranglehold and turned the tables around and used a rear naked choke to force his opponent to submission in 2:46 of the third.

Rocky Quichocho won in his rematch against Myron San Nicolas via TKO, as the former rained a flurry of punches on his opponent, forcing referee Tony D’Angelo to stop the fight in the 2:17 mark of the second round.

Jose Ramirez, in the final undercard bout, only needed 1:11 of the first round in beating Vince Pua. Ramirez used a Guillotine choke in forcing his opponent to submission.(Jon Perez)
