40 qualify for CNMI State Math Court competition

Thirty-six middle school students from Saipan and four from Tinian have qualified for the CNMI State Math Court competition, according to administrator Reo Arriola. These students were the top-scoring students from the islandwide competition held last Saturday.

According to Arriola, the state competition is slated for Jan. 17, 2015. Tinian students have been invited for this event as well, he said, and a venue is to be announced later.

On Saipan, sixth grade qualifying students were Annie Wang, Frederic Guintu, Mark Nam, Mubei Wang, Seung Ju Lee, and Victoria Santos.

On Saipan, seventh grade qualifying students were Allan Lee, Bernadette Jacinto, David Cai, Glen Matalog, Hyunin Noh, James Reyes, Jonah Chen, Leo Li, Lian Liang Li, Lucy Gu, Moses Qui, Seongbeom Song, Tae Yong Kim, Tian Microl Chen, and Zi Han Wang.

On Saipan, eigth grade qualifying students were Alex Park, Dai Podziewski, Ellen Lee, Eric Kiser, Grace Choi, Ian Cataluna, Jun Hee Lee, Karen Xu, Linda Shi, Michael Lee, Min Hyeok Ha, Ruth Park, Su Hwan Bae, Tania Tan, and Won Kwan Kim.

On Tinian, sixth grade qualifiers were Clarence Rodriguez, Jeremiah Hofschneider, and Tasi Long. Michael Pan was the seventh grade qualifier.

TheCNMI Math Court’s next meet is this Saturday at Koblerville Elementary School, according to Arriola, where both the regular meet for grades 4 to 5 and the regional meet for grades 9-12 will happen concurrently. The same competition will happen on Tinian as well.
