A 21-year-old man allegedly stole her grandmother’s rented 30-inch flat screen TV in Kagman and handed it to his friend in exchange for methamphetamine or “ice.”

Michael Jesse Aguon Manalo, 21, was arrested for theft on Wednesday, while Shane Joseph Aldan, 28, was arrested for conspiracy and theft on Thursday.

At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho set $10,000 cash bail for Aldan and released Manalo on a $5,000 unsecured bond.

Detective Catherine B. Pangelinan stated in her report that it was Manalo’s mother herself who called the police last Dec. 1 to disclose that her stole his grandmother’s TV.

Pangelinan said Manalo immediately confessed committing the crime.

The mother told a responding police detective that her two minor sons witnessed Manalo taking the TV out from their grandmother’s house.

The grandmother has been renting the TV from Dial Rent-To-Own.

Pangelinan said during their interview with Manalo, the defendant admitted he took the TV from the room that belongs to his grandmother and gave it to his friend, Aldan, in exchange for two large “ice.”

Manalo said Aldan asked him to go ahead and get the TV that because he would just sell it.

Pangelinan said according to Manalo’s minor brother, he was in the garage when a red Corolla came and parked in front of the house.

A man with a lot of tattoos on the arms asked him for Manalo so he called his brother. Manalo came out and talked with the man who was later identified as Aldan.

Manalo asked Aldan to park the car on the southern side of the house. Manalo went inside the house and after a few minutes, he came out carrying the TV covered with a white towel.

Manalo put the TV in the backseat of the car and a female passenger of the car handed something to him.

The boy said at the time he was raking outside the house and wanted to observe Manalo because it was not the first time he stole items belonging to their grandmother.

Pangelinan said Manalo also confessed committing to two other separate burglary and theft incidents in Kagman II.
