Teen allegedly threatened to kill mom with machete
A mother and her minor son are claiming they have been living in fear after her other son, who has an attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, has threatened to kill her and has been physically abusing his younger brother.
Jason DeCastro Yamada, 19, was arrested in Dandan on Thursday for assault with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, assault, and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Friday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho set $10,000 cash bail and appointed the Public Defender’s Office as counsel for Yamada.
Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 22 at 9am.
Detective Norman L. Skilling stated in his report that two police officers responded to a disturbing the peace incident at a residence in Dandan on Nov. 16 at 8:55am.
Skilling said Yamada’s mother told the officers that her son was harassing her while holding a machete.
The mother said Yamada fled the scene after she ran to the neighbor’s house to call the police.
The mother disclosed that Yamada has been diagnosed with ADHD but refused to take medication.
The mother said ever since Yamada stopped taking his medication, his behavior has changed and that recently he threatened to kill her while holding a machete.
Yamada also threatened to damage her car.
The suspect got mad because he asked for money and the mother told him that he has stopped receiving Supplemental Security Income benefits because he refused to follow up on hospital appointments.
Yamada also would allegedly punch and kick his younger brother because he thinks that their mother is favoring the younger child.
The mother said she is really scared for her son and her other child’s life.
She said sometimes she and the youngest child would sleep in the car at the beach out of fear for Yamada.
