Man allegedly points gun at son-in-law
A 53-year-old man who was looking for his wife and had threatened to kill her allegedly pointed a handgun at his son-in-law, whom he suspected of hiding her at his house on Saipan.
Luis Aguon Reyes was arrested Tuesday night for assault, assault with a dangerous weapon, and disturbing the peace. His bail was set yesterday at $50,000 cash.
Superior Court Associate Judge David A. Wiseman also imposed many conditions on Reyes, including requiring him to surrender any handguns.
Preliminary hearing will be on Dec. 17 at 9am.
Police detective Jeffrey I. Norita stated in his report that Reyes’ daughter called police on Monday at 11:07pm to report a gun-pointing incident involving her father.
Norita said that Reyes and his son had gone to the house of the victim, who is the husband of Reyes’ daughter, to ask him for the whereabouts of his wife. The son-in-law told Reyes not to involve his family with their problems and asked him to leave.
Later that night, Reyes appeared at his son-in-law’s house and shouted at him, telling him to stop lying because his (Reyes’) wife is hiding inside the house.
As they were sitting on a picnic table, Reyes allegedly pulled a handgun from his pants and allegedly pointed it at his son-in-law, asking him if he’s sure he was not playing with him.
The victim said when he saw the gun he got scared for his wife and children’s safety.
Reyes’ daughter came out and told the defendant to leave the house.
The daughter told police that his father was shouting that he was going to kill them all.
