Guma Esparansa received $3,000 in cash donation while the Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence received $5,000 in cash.
Guma’ Esperansa, a program of Karidat Social Services, is a shelter for victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence and human trafficking in the CNMI. The non-profit organization works daily to provide care and services to victims of violence and their children who have fled their homes to seek safe shelter.
The Northern Marianas Coalition Against Domestic & Sexual Violence is a non-profit organization whose mission is to promote, nourish and sustain a collective movement to end violence in the CNMI.
TakeCare operations manager Nora Sablan said they donated to both organizations because it is for a worthy cause.
“We try our best to return back to the community,” she said.
The TakeCare Foundation is composed of employees of TakeCare Insurance and the FHP Health Center who are devoted to charitable and educational causes that enhance the health, wellness and welfare of individuals, families and the public at large. It is unique because it is employee-driven. TakeCare and FHP employees play a major role in assisting with the contributions and the selection process of the grant recipients.
Sablan said this was the first time for the foundation to donate to the coalitioin while it is Guma Esperansa’s second time.
Coalition program coordinator Kiki Igitol said they are really grateful for the donation they received.
“This will help support our community outreach events and we are really grateful for that,” Igitol said.
The TakeCare Foundation hopes the donation will help the two organizations in their outreach initiatives to provide care and services to victims of violence and their children.
