The Associated Students of the Northern Marianas College had a surprise treat for their peers last Thursday, with free snow cones given out to almost 200 students in a matter of two hours, according to ASNMC president Riya Nathrani.

By doing this event, Nathrani said, ASNMC really wanted students to get in the spirit of the holidays and “just feel appreciated” for participating in ASNMC events.

She said she genuinely appreciates the students’ continuous support and hopes her peers will continue to be active in ASNMC activities. More student involvement in college activities were one of her goals as the new ASNMC president this year.

“It was really great to see their enthusiasm when we announced that the snow cones were indeed free. It encourages us as student leaders to continue to hold more events and strive to increase student participation at the college,” she told Saipan Tribune.

Nathrani is this school year’s ASNMC’s president, along with newcomers Salvi Villanueva as vice president, Andrew Villanueva as secretary, and Roman Tudela as treasurer. Adrian Pangelinan, Keisuke Yoshida, and Guadalupe Camacho are its senators.
