FOA to host ‘A Glee-ful Christmas Revue’
The Friends of the Arts will be holding its first program of this season, A Glee-ful Christmas Revue, an evening of Christmas music performed by the regional and national award winning Rhythm n’ Harmony, the Marianas High School Glee Club, directed by Paul Dujua and produced by Harold Easton.
The program will have three performances on Dec. 12 and 13 starting at 7pm and a 3pm matinee on Dec. 14. All three shows will be at the Marianas High School’s Dolphin Theatre.
The entrance fee will be $5 for all student Thespian members, $8 for students up through college, $12 for FOA members and $15 for non-FOA members. In recognition of the continued assistance of Marianas High School and the participation of the MHS Glee Club, all MHS students will be offered the $5 ticket price and all MHS staff will be offered the $12 member rate. Season ticket holders and their guests (one guest per season ticket) are already prepaid.
This program will help fund the Glee Club’s trip to Guam next spring to participate in the Tumon Bay Music Festival. (PR)
Glushko’s Academy sets ‘Christmas Concert’
Glushko’s Academy of Performing Arts will be hosting a Christmas Concert on Dec. 14, Sunday, at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center. Show time is from 6pm to 7pm. Doors will be open at 5:30pm. Tickets, at only $10 for adults and $5 for children (3-12 years old) and are available at the door or by calling 483-6271 or email glushkosacademy@yahoo.com.
The concert will feature dances and music from your favorite Christmas carols! This event is a perfect get together with your family and friends to share the Holiday Spirit! This is a fundraising event is to raise money for the March 2015 International Ballet of Stars!
Saipan Pacific Winds, Manta Band sets Dec. show
Saipan Pacific Winds and the Saipan Southern High School’s Manta Ray Band will be doing a show on Dec. 22, 2014, starting at 7pm at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center in Susupe. There will be more details emerging next week as we develop the program.
There will be no admission fee but donations are encouraged as the band fundraises for their competition tour to Los Angeles in June 2015 at Walt Disney Hall, home of the LA Philharmonic. A portion of the donations will be donated to a charity to be named soon. (PR)
UOG Art and Theater Departments hosts design and art show
UOG students in two different fall 2014 Art classes, Basic Design and Studio for Non-Art Majors, will present more than 60 pieces of art in a public showcase, “Not a Blank Page”: Design and Art Studio–Final Student Art Show, which will be held at Guma Tasa in Mangilao from Dec. 11 to 19. The event opens on Thursday, Dec. 11, and will feature a special presentation of original theatrical works from actors in the UOG Fall 2014 Acting I class. Student-prepared, homemade potluck-style dishes will be provided as part of the opening event. “Not a Blank Page”: Design and Art Studio–Final Student Art Show is open to the public and admission is free of charge.
