The Lions Club International 204 Region 2 will be holding a joint induction ceremony at Kanoa Resort today, Dec. 5, at 6pm.

According to United Filipino Organization president Annamae Adaza, Senate President Ralph Torres will be their special guest.

LCI 204 Region 2 chair Ladyvir Canape said it will be a joint induction ceremony for both Saipan and Tinian Lions.

“This time Tinian will be coming and be in the induction. Rota was supposed to join the induction ceremony but could not make it because the flights were fully booked,” Canape told Saipan Tribune yesterday.

Canape said that whenever the Lions Club gets together, problems get smaller and the communities get better.

“That’s because we help where help is needed in our own communities and around the world with unmatched integrity and energy,” she said.

There are 46,000 Lions Clubs worldwide and 1.35 million members, making it the largest service club organization.

Canape said there are five Lions Clubs in the CNMI: Fil-Am Lions Club, Saipan Marianas Lions Club, Saipan Unity Lions Club, Tinian Marianas Lions Club, and Rota Marianas Lions Club.

Canape noted that the CNMI’s Lions Club have already lined up a few projects for the upcoming year. These include community and environment programs such as cleanups, planting trees, and health fairs.
