Saipan mayor expects arrival of 3 heavy equipment
The Saipan Mayor’s Office is already anticipating the arrival of three heavy equipment it bought in early September.
Saipan Mayor Marian DLG Tudela said the estimated time of arrival for a dump truck and two loader backhoes is early next year.
“We’re finally getting our heavy equipment and now the mayor’s office can provide better services than it did before,” Tudela said.
Special adviser Henry S. Hofschneider told Tudela that the 2015 Ford F-750 four-wheel drive dump truck is estimated to arrive on Feb. 20 to 25, while the two CASE 580SN four-wheel drive loader backhoes are expected to arrive on Jan. 15 to 20.
Hofschneider stated in his memo that the shipment date for the dump truck will be Jan. 30, 2015, according to an Oct. 28, 2014, email from the U.S General Services Administration.
CNH Industrial America LLC forwarded their shipment date on Nov. 18, 2014.
“Though the dates shown above are still months away from now…I have been told by other government agencies that procure through GSA that shipment oftentimes arrive earlier than estimated. I am hoping the dump truck and two backhoes land on Saipan much sooner than the estimated timeline,” Hofschneider said.
He said that CNH will pay for moving the two backhoes from CASE Construction Equipment in Burlington, Iowa, to Long Beach, California. The Saipan Mayor’s Office will then be responsible for paying the shipping cost from California to Saipan. This is estimated to cost $10,800 to $11,000.
The purchase of these new equipment was made possible after the mayor’s office got $100,000 from the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation and $413,000 from the Office of Insular Affairs.
