DUI checkpoints on Saipan next week

The CNMI Department of Public Safety will be conducting DUI/sobriety checkpoints on Nov. 26 and 27.
Nov. 26, 2014:

  • Beach Road Susupe in front of the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Building, on the northbound lane, from 6pm to 7:15pm
  • Chalan Pale Arnold, Chalan Lau Lau, in front of IT&E Building, on the southbound lane, from 8pm to 9:15pm
  • Chalan Monsignor Guerrero, Chalan Kiya adjacent to the CUC Waterloo, on the westbound lane, from 10pm to 11:15pm

Nov. 27, 2014:

  • Beach Road, Garapan across from Bank Pacific on the southbound lane, from 3pm to 4:15pm
  • Chalan Pale Arnold, Gualo Rai in front of Spring Buildings, on the southbound lane, from 6pm to 7:15pm
  • Beach Road, Chalan Piao, in front of Hopwood Jr. High School on the southbound lane, from 8:30pm to 9:45pm
  • Each DUI/sobriety checkpoint will last at least 75 minutes (1 hour and 15 minutes).

In addition, traffic and patrol officers will be conducting highway criminal interdictions, saturation patrols, aggressive driver interdictions, and laser (speed detection) enforcement.

This activity is part of department’s effort to deter, detect and apprehend impaired drivers, and to ensure that all passengers are wearing proper restraining devices, seatbelts or car seats. (DPS)
