Tebuteb stands firmly behind Heinz and Ray

Ray Tebuteb, a six-term member of the House of Representatives who recently won re-election to another term in Precinct 3, said he stands firmly in support of Heinz and Ray because the Commonwealth “needs leaders who are not compromised by big money and special interests and leaders who are prepared to make decisions that benefit the majority of people in the CNMI.”

Tebuteb said the last term in the House of Representatives was extremely challenging given the entrenched interests and he is thankful to his constituents, the public, and other members of the House who fought for the issues they believe serve the greater good.

“Today’s politics has been marred by self-interest and big money and I believe that the candidacy of Heinz and Ray will change that, which is why I support them and I ask my supporters to do the same,” Tebuteb said. “My precinct may be the site of a casino and I know that we will need substantial upgrades in infrastructure to prevent our constituents in Garapan from the negative impacts of a development so large. This is not something I am willing to leave to chance.”

“It is not clear to me that the current administration or the casino is interested in sparing the Commonwealth from the ill-effects of casino activity but I know that given the current path we are on, this will not be good for the Commonwealth or the people of my precinct,” Tebuteb said.

Tebuteb lives with his wife and children in Garapan. A long time advocate of health, fitness, cultural and recreational development, he recently sponsored, along with musicians in the CNMI, the first Ukulele Festival, saying, “I am proud to promote and keep the arts alive and well in the CNMI and hope to contribute to the expansion of this event.”

“I am supporting Heinz and Ray because they are motivated by the same commitment to community service that prompted me to run for public office,” said Tebuteb. “I believe Heinz and Ray will make decisions that will preserve the way of life here in the CNMI in regards to our culture, traditions and language. I also believe they will be guided by the rule of law in their deliberations of the issues and that is important to preserve and protect our democracy which is at great risk at this moment. It is important for people to vote for Heinz and Ray in the runoff election, our future depends on it.” (PR)
