Internationally acclaimed classical pianist Roman Rudnytsky is set to visit Saipan again next year.
Friends of the Arts board chair Susan Fishman-Tudor said the Ukrainian native, who graduated from the celebrated Julliard School in New York and received training from the Mozarteum in Austria, will grace the island with a show slated for January 2012.
One of the most traveled concert pianists, Rudnytsky has performed in over 80 countries and is a prizewinner of several prestigious piano competitions such as the International Leventritt Competition in New York and the J.S. Bach International Competition in Washington.
“Rudnytsky’s visit to Saipan is part of his Pacific Rim tour, which will take him to perform in other islands like Guam and Kwajalein,” Fishman-Tudor told Saipan Tribune.
Fishman-Tudor described Rudnytsky as an “extraordinary human being.”
“He has information about a lot of virtuoso pianists like Chopin and he has no qualms about sharing that stuff with anybody. When he visited Saipan in the past, he went to three high schools and interacted with students,” she said.
Fishman-Tudor disclosed that FOA is still trying to obtain more sponsors to allow Rudnytsky to hold a dinner show.
Fishman-Tudor said that FOA will offer those who will purchase their season tickets at $40 each guaranteed reserved seating during Rudnytsky’s performance on Saipan.
FOA’s season ticket holders are given admission to all of the group’s productions in a season year at a discounted rate. FOA tickets per show are each priced at $12 for members and $15 for non-members.
“Rudnytsky’s concert will be a great perk for those who will support FOA by buying season tickets,” said Fishman-Tudor.
