The Saipan Awaodori Team and PDM Promoters were at it once again, cleaning up the Garapan tourist district last Saturday.

Saturday’s cleanup was spearheaded by 12 volunteers from the Kinpachi Restaurant, 32 Saipan Awaodori Team members, and Joe Kaipat of the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality.

The non-profit group’s coordinator, Sonia Siwa, said they did their cleanup from 9am to 11:30am and collected about 820 lbs of trash. Garbage that were collected included plastic bottles, empty beer bottles, cigarette butts, and empty canned drinks.

Others did bush cutting at the Paseo de Marianas environs, Coral Tree Ave., and Winchell’s Road.

The group’s monthly cleanup collects close to or more than 1,000 lbs of trash.
