Thank you
On behalf of Saipan’s overseas Filipino workers, we would like to say “thank you” to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration in Manila for sending one of their personnel to process our membership renewal here on Saipan. We hope that in the next five succeeding years, OWWA services will always be part of OFWs’ existence here on Saipan.
Apart from the smooth process of the membership renewal, there are still things to be addressed for those OFWs without CW1 permit on hand. We’ve noticed that quite a number of OFWs who had humanitarian parole or parole-in-place issued by USCIS were not allowed to renew their OWWA membership. Sad to see them frustrated in their eagerness and willingness to pay their OWWA membership. Is there any way that fellow OFWs can avail of OWWA membership even without a CW1 permit? OWWA membership provides healthcare and disability/death benefits to all its active members. Aside from these benefits, there other useful and/or profitable services that are essential to the welfare of OFWs and to their family members back home. We hope that OWWA administration and PCG Guam will address this issue in their next consular service and/or prior to the next OWWA membership renewal.
Thank you also to PCG Guam for urging and persuading OWWA Manila to send their personnel during their scheduled outreach services here on Saipan. Maraming salamat. Mabalos.
