Representative-elect Vinson “Vinnie” Flores Sablan, who received more than 700 votes in Precinct 4, is the latest public figure to endorse the Independent Hofschneider-Yumul campaign for the runoff election.

Sablan said he is encouraged by the success of his fellow independent candidates in the House of Representatives, most of whom are supporting the independent ticket of Heinz and Ray.

“The majority of voters chose change in the general election,” said Sablan. “I don’t expect that trend to change substantially in the runoff election because the core remains intact and more voters are beginning to realize the importance of change.”

Sablan said he ran for public office because he was intent on finding ways to help the community and that he is grateful to voters for giving him the opportunity to serve.

“I am supporting Heinz and Ray because they are motivated by the same commitment to community service that prompted me to run for public office,” said Sablan.

Sablan said he is invested in public service not only for his family but also for the communities in which we live. “I want to work hard with similarly-minded Heinz and Ray, and the other independent candidates in the House, and the Senate, to ensure that all stakeholders have a part in finding the best solutions to improve our quality of life.”

Prior to his election, Sablan served as the Parent Teacher Student Association president for Tanapag Elementary School. Sablan’s other community involvements include service in the following capacities: CNMI Head Start Policy Council chair; Talaabwogh StaR Association vice president; Marianas March Against Cancer team captain (Team Talaabwogh StaR); Saipan Little League Baseball Inc., board member and NSA T-Ball team manager; Crime Stoppers Inc. annual softball tournament coordinator; and Adult Basic adjunct instructor.

Sablan is currently the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality laboratory manager and has an associate degree in computer applications and business administration from Northern Marianas College and a bachelor’s degree in management from University of Phoenix.
