Destroyers secure Masters division crown
The Jokers Destroyers are only waiting for the 2014 Bud Light Saipan Electronic Darts Association’s season to end to formally claim the Masters division crown.
The Destroyers are on top of the 4-team field with a 130-74 card, but have to wait for at least two more weeks to officially claim the title. They improved their record after scoring a 10-7 win over the cellar-dwelling Smoke Pub Masters Outlawz (70-134) in last week’s matches held in various bars on the island.
The Destroyers enjoy a comfortable 24-game lead over sister-team TRA-Bull Makerz (106-98), but the latter is still not assured of a runner-up finish as Sand Juvy Shoot Balut is at close third with an even 102-102 slate.
In the Tuesday league, Smoke High On Darts coasted to a 14-1 triumph over the Darthaolics to tie their victims with similar 88-92 records, while the Jokers Dabarkads (97-83) scored a one-sided 13-2 win against the Sand Juvy 22 Snipers (81-99).
Division leader Marupok (113-67), one of four teams backed by Smoke Pub, pulled off a 9-6 decision over sister team Smoke Pub D’Mekaniks (94-86) and the Route33 Mixblood Shooters (94-86) nipped Oleai Team Fearless (75-105), 8-7.
In the Ladies category, the Jokers Kitty Kats (90-60) drubbed Smoke Pub Ladies Bull-It (65-85), 10-5, to move within three wins of Sand Juvy Vicious Darties (87-63), while lowly Jokers G-Side Shooters (71-94) and Route33 Avengers (69-81) scored similar 9-6 victories over the Naked Fish Dartin’ Divas (82-68) and the Smoke Pub Mixed Nuts (76-89).
The Jokers Latte Darts continue to enjoy the top spot in the Kingfisher division after posting a 10-5 decision against closest pursuer Route33 Chagi Fan. The Latte Darts holds a 129-51 slate, while Chagi Fan is at 123-57.
In other results, the Dart Knights (119-61) routed the Jokers BSEA Sunsports (81-99), 11-4, while Naked Fish Hafa Mas nipped the Jokers Darty Minded, 8-7, to tie their victims at 103-77.
In the Flame Tree division, the Serial Killaz drubbed the One Shot, 11-4, the Dart Balas tripped Figan, 13-2, while Kyodai and Warriors escaped with thrilling 8-7 wins over the Ridin’Dartty and Na’Gupu.
The Smoke Pub D’Mekaniks edged Route33 Mixblood Shooters, 8-7, to lead the winners in the Fanihi division. The Chagi Fan and No Fear defeated the 80 Proofers and Warriors, 9-6, respectively, while the Sand Juvy Put3ska clipped the Bud Kings, 11-4.
The Spartans blitzed past the Snipers, 12-3, Ta Chagi mauled Blue Koi, 11-4, the Disciples and Feelin’ Lucky rolled to 9-6 wins over Bull It and VFW, respectively, while the Breakers slipped past Jump It, 8-7, in the Chichirika division.
Four of the 5 matches in the A division ended in lopsided results with the Predators leading the way after completing a 14-3 demolition of the Bud Brothers, while the Ridin’Dartty bamboozled the Proofers, 13-4. The Outlawz and the Mixblood Shooters scored similar 11-6 decisions over Sakude and Comatose, respectively, and the Mafia edged the Hunters, 9-8. (Jon Perez)
