The hearing officer for the investigation of Saipan Southern High School vice principal Eric San Nicolas is expected to be named this week, according to the Public School System’s legal counsel office.

According to the office, the decision awaits Board of Education approval. Hearings will be scheduled and proceed from there, with both parties being called in.

San Nicolas was sent on administrative leave with pay on Sept. 29. He has been investigated for questionable behavior while vice principal of Tinian Jr. Sr. High School.

“We are doing our best to see if his conduct rose to the level of termination,” Tiberius Mocanu, legal counsel for PSS, said in an interview last month.

A former student of San Nicolas at TJSHS earlier said the investigation may have to do with an affair San Nicolas had with a student at the school. The girl involved was reportedly 19 years old at the time.
