Message of appreciation

On Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2014, the voting public of the Commonwealth, both on and off island, have spoken and made known their choices and, yes, democracy is still very much at work here in the CNMI, a basic fundamental principle our founding fathers institutionalized for us all. Today, Danny, Andrew Salas, Jess Taisague, Tony Mareham, David Cing, Frank Angel, Vince Cabrera, Nelson Rios, Calistro Reyes, Bruce Iglesias and I are all grateful for the opportunity to participate in the selection of our chief executive, delegate to Congress, senatorial representative, mayoral and precinct level representatives. We are humbled by the support of our citizens who believed in the ideas and programs we promoted during our campaign across our great Commonwealth. On behalf of our entire candidates and the leadership of our newly revived party, we’d like to extend our sincerest appreciation to all citizens of the Commonwealth for their participation in the election process. We especially would like to extend our most humble gratitude to our supporters for their faithfulness and unforsaken confidence in us and our commitment to the cause we have undertaken to help make lasting beneficial changes in the lives of our people and the quality of our public services.

While our obvious desire was to collectively win this election, the people have spoken otherwise and we have accepted their choices of candidates and will honor their decision. We extend our personal and sincere congratulations to Governor Inos and Senate President Torres for an impressive election outcome. We extend a similar acknowledgement to former Speaker Hofschneider and Senator Yumul for placing in the top two gubernatorial teams in this four-way race to the Executive Office. Our congratulations also go to former governor Juan Babauta and senator Torres for leading a very competitive campaign.

While we consider the three gubernatorial teams formidable political opponents, Danny and I never lost sight of our Christian values and it was never in our game plan to use destructive politics to malign individual’s dignity by espousing personal dispositions to promote and advance our political interests. Reviewing personal traits of candidates was a matter that appropriately rests with the people to judge for themselves. Losing a good fight is always a disappointing feeling but Danny and I are honored to be a part in putting forth and advocating ideas and programs that would advance and protect the interests and rights of our local people. This opportunity alone is and will forever be an enduring and lasting experience for all of us in the Democratic Party. Once again congratulations to all the victors.

Appeal for support

As we prepare to finish the final stage in our electoral process, the runoff election, we respectfully ask our supporters to join us in extending our support to the Inos/Torres team. As voters you did your duty to try and get the Deleon Guerrero (Tofila) and Quitugua team elected into office, but our people have chosen two other gubernatorial teams instead. As the titular head of our candidates that democratically and unanimously endorsed the Inos/Torres tandem, we appeal for a united effort to do our networking by encouraging one another to vote and get the Inos/Torres elected into office. Of the two gubernatorial candidates, those cultural programs and benefits we have been promoting throughout our campaign for the benefit of our people are best advanced by the successful election of the Inos/Torres team. It is critically important that we all come out and vote. Please have your vote counted by helping the team who has the best chance of winning the runoff election, that gubernatorial team is the Inos/Torres ticket.
