The Rollers coasted to a 53-30 win over the Ol’Aces to rule the U14 division of the 2014 BANMI Youth League last Saturday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

The Rollers used a 20-8 scoring exchange to turn a 6-7 deficit early in the first half to a 26-15 advantage at the turn.

Christian Arceo and Aaron Ogumoro spearheaded the Rollers’ scoring attack, as the Ol’Aces failed to keep up with their opponents’ offense the entire game.

The Ol’Aces tried to contain Arceo and Ogumoro, at times double or triple-teaming them but to no avail as both Rollers players found ways to score. Arceo and Ogumoro finished with a game-high 16 points each, while Finals MVP Angelo Factor scattered 10 markers. Ogumoro was named the regular season MVP and also claimed the scoring champion award.

The Rollers totally dominated the Ol’Aces in the second half to cruise their way to the division crown.

Kimo Ainganen tried to get the Ol’Aces back in the game, but failed to get the needed scoring support.

Ainganen was the lone Ol’Aces player to score in double digits with his 16 points, while Shakobee Rangamar chipped in 6. Donovan Ada, Patrick Manglona, Alvin Pua and Greg Sablan added 2 points apiece.

Earlier, DYS overcame a 13-point deficit in the first half to rally past Tinian, 45-41, in the battle for third place.

Trailing 12-25 at the half, DYS erupted for 33 points to complete the come-from-behind win and clinch third place in the annual youth basketball league.
