Inos opens close to 1K lead in gubernatorial race

Gov. Eloy S. Inos and his running mate Senate President Ralph Torres (R-Saipan) have opened up a close to 1,000-vote lead after the completion of Precincts 1 and 2 and early vote counting.

According to the Commonwealth Election Commission’s tabulation as of 3am, the CNMI Republican Party tandem has 2,931 votes followed by independents Heinz Hofschneider/Ray Yumul (1,944) and Juan Babauta/Juan Torres (1,108) and CNMI Democratic Party’s Edward Deleon Guerrero/Danilo Quitugua (259).

In the U.S. delegate race, incumbent Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP) continues to widen the gap against former CNMI House representative Andrew Salas.

According to the Commonwealth Election Commission’s 3am tally of Precinct 1 and 2 votes as well as early voting, Sablan has garnered 3,621 votes as against Salas’ 2,235 votes.
