CHC’s Muña urges public to get themselves checked
The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. wants the public to get themselves screened to ensure that they know the status of their health.
“We are asking the public to start getting themselves checked and screened at the hospital as soon as they can,” Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Muña said last week.
With majority of deaths in the CNMI caused by chronic diseases, Muña said the hospital staff is upping up their game in educating the public on major chronic diseases.
Diabetes, cancer, and heart diseases are usually the number one causes of deaths in the CNMI due to people not being screened if they already have these diseases.
Muña said that CHCC Medical Director John Doyle is leading the charge in reaching out to the public to be aware of their health.
With over 30 physicians already at the hospital, Muña said the hospital already offers free health screening.
“As the public’s main healthcare provider, we want the public to be more aware of their health and let them know that they can avail of screening for free and that if they get checked early they can avoid issues within them and maybe find possible diseases that causes future problems to their health,” Muña said.
