Honoring Tony Pellegrino

Share

Mr. Tony Pellegrino was our idol among all the different writers to the editor. He was always of great benefit to our community. He put in a lot of effort to develop the trade skills of the youth. He was at the very beginning of organizing today’s Saipan Water and Ice, the shrimp farm, the ferry route to Managaha and back, etc. A big number of poor people remember Mr. Pellegrino for his positive deeds, each time bringing ease to someone in need.

He passed away more than a year ago. His memory is still alive, with his water company running, the ferry functioning, and his educational center educating those who are hungry for professional knowledge.

Good members of our community should be remembered properly because their lives and achievements are part of our history and culture, part of today’s economy and prosperity. People with capacities should know that their merits are going to be kept in future generations’ minds, one way or another. Our respect for them should be made concrete by keeping their names with us all the time.

We want to ask our society to take some steps in this direction for Mr. Pellegrino. His professional education center could be renamed the Marianas Pellegrino Professional Education Center. Pelligrino Ferry Service, Pellegrino Water Company, Pellegrino water brand sound reasonable. One of the new streets could be named Pellegrino Street. Why not?

There is no other way to a better future than cultivating our best people. Doing good should be profitable. And prestigious when we face eternity! Thanks in advance to our powers-that-be for their future steps in keeping good people’s memory alive.
