Three teenagers, including the driver, were injured when a speeding car they were riding lost control, hit a road median, flipped, and slammed into a concrete wall in front of the former La Fiesta Mall in San Roque Saturday afternoon.

All three, described as locals, were brought to the Commonwealth Health Center for treatment and were later released, according to Sgt. Tom Blas yesterday.

The driver, a 15-year-old male, had abrasions and bruises on the right hip, right knee, shoulder, and right arm. He was cited for being an unqualified driver, speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic infractions, Blas said.

The 14-year-old female passenger complained of pain in the right lower head, right shoulder, and arm.
The injuries of the 14-year-old male passenger were not indicated in the report released to the media.
Police said DPS Central received a call about a crash that occurred in front of the former La Fiesta Mall on Saturday at 1:16pm.

At-scene investigation conducted by Sgt. Anthony Macaranas showed that the blue four-door Toyota Corolla with license plate ABC-538 was being driven by the 15-year-old boy and was traveling north when the driver lost control as they neared the former La Fiesta Mall compound, causing the car to swerve into the inner northbound lane and hit the road median.

The car then flipped and continued into the southbound lanes until it slammed into a concrete wall on the southbound shoulder. The car came to rest on the “merging” southbound lane.

Further investigations and processing of the crash scene led investigators to conclude that speed was a factor and cause of the crash.

The car had extensive damage on the right and top sides.
