Masga aims to avenge teammates in PXC 45
Vince “The Clinch” Masga is aiming to avenge the losses of his two Trench Tech teammates when he goes up against Guam’s Mcklane Alfred in the opening bout of Pacific Xtreme Combat 45 tonight.
Masga (4-1, with 3 of his wins by submission), will take on Alfred (3-1, with 1 knockout) in one of the seven undercard fights in the battle for the vacant PXC bantamweight crown between Guam’s Kyle Aguon and the Philippines’ Rolando Dy at the University of Guam Fieldhouse.
Alfred went 2-1 against 3 Trench Tech fighters and Masga wants to hand the former his second loss.
“I know Alfred is one of the rising contenders in the flyweight division and he has beaten two of my teammates. I’m looking to settle the score,” said Masga, who tipped the scales at 124.9 lbs during Thursday’s weigh-in.
Alfred was victorious against Trench Tech fighters Josh “Chaos” Duenas and Mark “The Dark” Nuique in last year’s PXC 40 and PXC 44 this year. He beat Duenas by unanimous decision and defeated Nuique by rear naked choke. The Guahan Top Team fighter then lost to Roman “Boom” Alvarez by split decision in PXC 42 in February this year.
Masga said he aims to be the aggressor against Alfred the entire fight.
“My plan is to push the pace all three rounds, break his spirit, and take the win,” Masga said.
Trench Tech’s Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez (10-1), who weighed in at 125.7 lbs., is also in the undercard and will be fighting Ultimate Fighting Championship veteran Darren Uyenoyama (8-5-0). (Jon Perez)
