SHRM meeting to highlight OSHA and worker rights
The Society for Human Resource Management CNMI Chapter will be hosting a special presentation on the topic of “OSHA and Worker Rights” at its October General Membership meeting today, Oct. 20, 2014, at Charley’s Cabaret, PIC, from 11:30am to 2pm.
SHRM’s guest speaker, Jeffrey B. Romeo, OSHA Area Director, Honolulu, Hawaii, will be presenting this program. Romeo will be preceded by Agnes Manglona-McPhetres, chief executive officer of the Northern Marianas Trade Institute.
The presentation includes lunch at a cost of $20 for SHRM members and $30 for non-members. CCA board meeting tomorrow Oct. 21
The Commonwealth Cancer Association’s board of directors will be holding its regular meeting tomorrow, Oct. 21, 2014, at 3pm at the CCA conference room. Air Force, Navy training on FDM, at Warning Area 517
The U.S. Air Force will conduct training at the island of Farallon de Medinilla during the following times:
Oct. 20, 21 and 23, from 10am to 5pm
Oct. 21 and 23, from 7 – 11:59pm
Oct. 22, from 10am to 6pm
The U.S. Navy will also conduct training at Warning Area 517 on Oct. 21 and 22, from noon to 8pm
The general public—especially fishermen, commercial pilots, and marine tour operators—are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla will be on a 10-nautical mile radius on all quadrants.
W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising of 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. W-517 supports surface and aerial gunnery, missiles, and laser exercises. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. W-517 is contained within the following coordinates: 13° 10”N/144° 30”E, 13° 10”N/144° 42”E, 12° 50”N/144° 45”E, 11° 00”N/144° 45”E, 11° 00”N/143° 00”E, 11° 45”N/143° 00”E, 12° 50”N/144° 30”E. (PR)
FOA membership meeting tomorrow
The Friends of the Arts will hold its membership meeting this Tuesday night, Oct. 21, from 6:30pm to 9pm, at the Canton Chinese Restaurant, across from the Mobil/McDonald’s in Garapan. The meeting will include musical and thespian entertainment. There will be more detailed discussion regarding the 2015 season and the opportunity to purchase season tickets. This year, in addition to the reduced cost of the tickets, each season ticket will allow you to bring a guest to each program without additional cost! (PR)
