Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho on Friday placed under house arrest former mixed martial arts fighter Peter Manglona Deleon Guerrero, who is facing charges of extorting $20 from a man he had accused of stealing a bicycle by threatening to break his face and slam his head on a wall.

Camacho granted defense counsel Edward Arriola Sr.’s motion to modify the $10,000 cash bail that the court earlier imposed on Deleon Guerrero. Deleon Guerrero was allowed to post a property mortgage and was released to a third-party custodian.

The judge said Deleon Guerrero shall not leave the residence without the third-party custodian and ordered him to stay away from any poker arcades, among other conditions.

Deleon Guerrero, 46, also known by his fight name “Dragon,” was served with an arrest warrant in China Town last Sept. 30 on charges of robbery, assault, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

Deleon Guerrero is the son of former House speaker Pedro Deleon Guerrero, Saipan Tribune learned.

Police detective Olympio S. Muna stated in his report that he was at the Department of Public Safety’s Tourism Oriented Policing Section office in Lower Miha Housing last Sept. 26 at 11:28am when Lawrence A. San Antonio came to report that Deleon Guerrero robbed and assaulted him at Best Poker in western Garapan.

According to San Antonio, he was playing poker at Winners Poker in central Garapan when Deleon Guerrero approached and accused him of stealing a bicycle at Best Poker.

Deleon Guerrero allegedly told San Antonio that a closed circuit TV camera at Best Poker showed that he stole the bicycle. San Antonio challenged Deleon Guerrero to show him the footage.

Deleon Guerrero later allegedly asked San Antonio for $20 for wasting his time. When San Antonio told him that he was hustling him, Deleon Guerrero replied, “Do you know who I am? I’m Dragon. Give me the $20 before I break your face, and then slam your head to the concrete!”

Deleon Guerrero allegedly attempted to punch San Antonio, prompting the latter to hand him $20.

After the victim sought police’s help, the detectives’ investigation led to Deleon Guerrero’s arrest.

In May 2008, Deleon Guerrero pleaded guilty to two counts of issuance of bad checks.

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo sentenced him to six months in prison, all suspended. The defendant was placed on six months of probation.
