Ex-convict gets 3 years in jail for domestic violence, again

Superior Court associate judge David A. Wiseman yesterday slapped a three-year jail term against an ex-convict who committed domestic violence anew.
Wiseman sentenced the 53-year-old Jesus R. Jones to five years in prison, all suspended except 36 months, with credit for the time he already served in jail.
Wiseman said should Jones violate the terms of his probation by committing another crime of domestic violence, the remaining months of the suspended sentence will be re-imposed (in addition to possible additional criminal charges).
After completing the jail term, Jones will be placed on three years of probation. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine, $100 court costs, and probation service fee.
Jones will be required to perform 100 hours of community work service. He was ordered to pay restitution to the victim for any needed medical or psychological evaluation or treatment.
The defendant was ordered to write a letter of apology to the victim, prohibited from possessing or consuming alcoholic beverages during the probationary period, and required to complete anger management counseling and any other counseling recommended by the treatment provider or the Office of Adult Probation.
According to the plea agreement, on May 10, 2011 on Saipan, Jones assaulted the victim with a coffee mug in the presence of a child.
The Office of the Attorney General charged Jones with two counts of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of disturbing the peace, and one count of contempt.
The OAG alleged that Jones assaulted the victim with a coffee mug and high heels sandals. It also alleged that the defendant failed to comply with a court’s order issued on May 21, 2010.
On May 21, 2010, associate judge Perry Inos imposed a one-year jail term on Jones for violating a court order barring him from any contact with his victim in a domestic violence case.
In March 2009, police arrested Jones for allegedly beating up his wife after she refused to have sex with him.
