Empowerment forum to feature female candidates
Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation believes that empowering women empowers families and the community as a whole, therefore EVM wishes to invite the public to attend a Women Empowerment Fundraiser Forum, at the Pacific Islands Club on Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at 5pm and will include dinner and entertainment.
As part of our mission to educate and empower women an in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the female candidates in the 2014 general election will be the guest speakers in the forum. Others guests of honor are also invited.
The female candidates will discuss the role of women in government and as community leaders in the CNMI. It is also an opportunity to give the CNMI’s women leaders the platform to state why they seek election and what they can do for the community and hopefully spur more women to consider leadership and community development.
Each candidate will be given an opportunity to answer predetermined questions (the topics will cover domestic and sexual violence, education, job opportunities, and other challenges facing the community).
Among the candidates who have confirmed their participation and their support are Jovita Maratita Taimanao (Senate, Rota), Janet Ulloa Maratita (Senate, Saipan), Antonia Manibusan Tudela (Municipal Council, Saipan), Rose Nelly Taman Ada-Hocog (House, Precinct 1), Felicidad Taman Ogumoro (House, Precinct 3), and Lareina Castro Camacho (Municipal Council, Saipan).
Dr. Esther Kanajorn of the Commonwealth Health Center will be providing a special entertainment. Kanajorn assists the foundation by coordinating free medical screening with other providers on the island.
Tickets to the 2014 Women’s Empowerment Forum is $30 per person and will help raise funds for EVM programs for Saipan and abroad. Tickets are available at the Empty Vessel office, Pacific Island Club, and female candidates offices. You can reach EVM at 483-0162. (EVM)
