73 swimmers to compete in NMISF’s first meet

The Northern Marianas Islands Swimming Federation will hold its first timed meet tomorrow with 73 swimmers from Saipan Swim Club and Tsunami Swimming Center Saipan racing at the Kan Pacific Swimming Pool.

SSC is fielding 33 swimmers in the competition that will run from 9am to 12nn. Victoria Chentsova, the most senior member of the club, will lead SSC as she participates in the mixed 400m and 800m freestyle, girls 100m freestyle, and 200m mixed medley relay.

Joining Chentsova in the weekend meet are Kento and Taiyo Akimaru, Dave and Dian Bautista, David Boyer, Jasmin Frink, Akira and Wataru Kadokura, Conatsu and Coume Kaga, Cory Lee, Rintaro Miyawaki, Sami Nimura, Ayaka, Dino, and Taiga Sato, Jefferey Sheu, Jonathan Shu, Savita Sikkel, Jinnosuke and Lennosuke Suzuki, Leo Takahashi, Jin Ju and Jinie Thompson, Christian Villacrusis, Nieves, Richard, and Susan Villagomez, Kaito and Ryuto Yanai, and Dominic and Matthew Zedde.

Majority of the SSC swimmers are entered in four individual events and some are also competing in relay races. The club has five teams in the mixed 200m medley relay. Chentsova is in one of the five squad and will be teaming up with Kento Akimaru, Villacrusis, and Boyer. Kento’s younger brother Taito is with Leo Takahasi, Rintaro, and Jinnosuke Suzuki, while the latter’s sibling Lennosuke Suzuki is joining forces with Taiga Sato, Ryuto Yanai, and Akira Kadokura. The two other teams are composed of the quarters of Coume Kaga, Jinie Thompson, Ayaka Sato, and Susana Villagomez and Nimura, Jin Ju Thompson, Conatsu Kaga, and Jasmin Frink.

Meanwhile, Tsunami Saipan has entered seven squads in the mixed 200m medley relay. The first team has Nanaka Watanabe, Shaunalyn Babauta, Ashley Dangol, and Kana Suzuki. Team 2 is composed of Hans Xu, Arman Rechucher, Isaiah Aleksenko, and Aasish Dangol, while Team 3 has Asaka Litulumar, Ayumi Obligacion, Natsuki Nagata, and Hye Jin Elliot. Juhn Tenorio leads Team 4 and will swim with Kenta Tomie, Anthony Camacho-Deleon Guerrero, and Rentaro Suzuki, while Sophia Gauran will anchor Team 5, which also has Kyona Rivera, Megumi Yoshino, and Aika Watanabe. Tsunami Saipan’s Team 6 is an all-male crew with Mark Maestro at the starting block, followed by Yoshino Jhota, Nelson Batallones, and Jamin Elliot. Angel Marie Tan will lead the all-female Team 7, which also listed Daime Rivera, Miku Tammy and Angel De Jesus as members.

Besides the 28 swimmers in its relay teams, Tsunami Saipan has 12 other members participating in NMISF’s first competition for the 2014-2015 season. The list includes David Ahn, Manuel Babauta, Maria Batallones, Jewel Combinido, Ailynn Galuan, Seiyul Hong, Emily Ku, Clair and Kyla Park, Gabriel Retardo, Kana Suzuki, and Takumi Sugie.
