Because the term of one Tinian Gaming Control Commission member is due to expire in the immediate future, and because it requires four TGCC members to take official action on behalf of the commission, and because new investors have shown intense interest in the Tinian gaming industry, Tinian Mayor Ramon Dela Cruz intends to fill that vacancy as soon as legally possible.

According to the Revised Act of 1989, Gaming Control Commission, the mayor must publish a list of qualified candidates in a local paper before an appointment is made.

According to the Act, the list shall be composed by the Office of the Mayor and include nominees from all Tinian political parties which are registered with the Commonwealth Board of Elections.

Dela Cruz’s nominees are Manual P. Villagomez, Anthony U. Hofschneider, Don A. Farrell, Lucia M. Borja, David M. Cing, Deborah A. Fleming, and Concepcion M. Villagomez.

Dela Cruz believes that all these individuals are highly qualified to be members of the Tinian Gaming Control Commission, and that his list meets the requirements of the revised Tinian Gaming Control Act. (PR)
