ASAN, Guam—Rear Adm. Bette Bolivar, commander, Joint Region Marianas, issued the following statement in response to the Navy’s suspension of the search for a missing pilot who crashed in the Western Pacific Friday.

“Our hearts and prayers are with the family of our fallen sailor who made the ultimate sacrifice in the service of our country. As the crews of Strike Fighter Squadron 94, Strike Fighter Squadron 113, and USS Carl Vinson grieve the loss of one of their own, let us keep them in our thoughts. Let us also remember the brave men and women of Carrier Strike Group 1 as they continue on their deployment. To the families and friends of everyone who has been affected by this tragedy, may God bless each one of you and safely reunite you with your loved ones.”
