It was a tight contest in the first half as both teams alternated in having brief scoring runs with neither squad not leading by as much as 5 points. The half ended with the score knotted at 28.
Eugene Manglona then went to work in the third, scoring 8 of World Resort’s 18 points to help his team establish some distance as they entered the fourth quarter holding on to a 46-38 spread.
Jomar Danas, John Lewis, and Dennis Vinas then finished what Manglona started as the trio poured it all in the fourth, burying timely baskets as World Resort ripped the game apart en route to the lopsided win.
Fiesta thus ended up at fourth as the team ran out of steam in the playoffs after ending up tied with Pacific Islands Club atop the standings after the elimination round.
Danas led World Resort with 18 points with Lewis and Manglona providing scoring support with 16 markers apiece. Team captain Vinas scattered 16 more at the offensive end.
Elmer Esdrelon was a one-man scoring machine for Fiesta, dropping 32 points but failed to get the needed support from the rests of his teammates.
Adonis Macoto was the only other Fiesta player that finished in double figures with 13, while the rest of the team combined for 13 markers.
World Resort dropped a 72-65 decision over Shirley’s-Century Hotel, while Fiesta suffered an 89-55 lashing against PIC in last week’s semifinal matches.
PIC and Shirley’s will be battling for the crown with the game to be played either Thursday or Friday this week depending on the availability of both teams and the Ada Gym.
