Java Bakery, Saipan’s first drive-through bakery, will be holding its grand opening tomorrow, Sept. 6, at its location in Chalan Kiya.
Conveniently located at the intersection of Middle Road and Chalan Monsignor Guerrero near the Chalan Kiya Mobil gas station, Java Bakery offers high quality coffee and baked goods at an excellent price.
The owner, Sarah Fryling, grew up on Saipan, and has taken her love of coffee and baking into business. The menu includes cinnamon rolls, muffins, cookies, scones, chocolate zucchini bread and banana bread, and mini pies. The cinnamon rolls are the house special, and there is a daily mini pie flavor, including pumpkin, pecan, chocolate, apple, and blueberry.
Drinks available include hot, iced, and blended coffee with an option of French vanilla, hazelnut, or chocolate flavoring.
Java Bakery also serves high quality Octavia teas, with green, oolong, Earl Grey, chai, chamomile and hibiscus peach flavors.
Special order items such as breads, birthday cakes, and full sized pies are also available by pre-order if you call Fryling at 287-1265.
At the moment, Java Bakery is exclusively a drive-through establishment, operating Monday to Friday, from 6:30am to 5pm, and Saturday, from 6:30am to 12pm. The bakery prides itself on quick and convenient service, and also accepts call-ahead orders (287-1265) if you do not wish to wait for your order when you arrive.
The bakery offers loyalty reward cards for baked goods and drinks, and as an incentive for bringing in your own mug, any drink will be charged as small, regardless of the size of mug brought.
Saturday’s grand opening will include drink specials and one free mini cinnamon roll per customer. Also, the first 25 customers will receive 25-percent off of their order. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place at 8am to “officially” open business. All are welcome!
Perhaps next year, Fryling will look into expanding into another location with seating, somewhere closer to Garapan. For now, the drive-through, modeled after U.S. West Coast examples, is filling all of Sarah’s time, but expansion is definitely on the horizon! (PR)
