Applicants for the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance have 26 more days to submit supporting documents, according to SHEFA administrator Merissa S. Rasa.

Applications were due since July 1 and supporting documents are due on Sept. 30.

A total of 1,265 incomplete application packages are still pending review.

Rasa said that SHEFA scholars who recently graduated need to submit a copy of their degree, an official transcript, SHEFA graduate form, and Employment Verification Form. The graduate form and verification form can be downloaded at www.saipanshefa.net.

SHEFA recipients have three months after graduating or non-enrollment to submit the documents for compliance purposes. Legal action face those who fail to comply with this.

As of yesterday, Sept. 3, the total of active SHEFA applicants for fall 2014 is 1,594.

Rasa said that 276 applications are complete for review and approved for grant-in-aid awards, priority field of study awards, and/or merit incentive award.

Rasa said that 53 applications have been denied due to not meeting the grade point average requirement, repeated courses, not maintaining the number of credits at the end of their awarded term, and other reasons.

“Also, all SHEFA announcements such as dates for release of award (batches), deadlines, scholarship/employment opportunities can also be found on our Facebook page. Just search SHEFA,” she said.
