Man insists on seeing kids, arrested for violating court protection order
Police arrested a man who allegedly violated a court order when he insisted on seeing his children at the home of his former girlfriend in San Roque early Saturday morning and at night.
Joseph Jones Villagomez, 40, was arrested for contempt of court and disturbing the peace.
At a hearing on Tuesday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio allowed Villagomez to post $125 as bail, which is 10 percent of his $1,250 bail.
Police detective Norman L. Skilling stated in his report that the Department of Public Safety sent two police officers to a residence in San Roque on Saturday at 2:07am in response to a contempt of court incident.
When the officers arrived at the residence at 2:43am, a woman showed them a copy of a Superior Court “order of protection” against her former boyfriend, Villagomez, with an expiration date of Sept. 11, 2014. The order requires Villagomez to stay away from the residence of his ex-girlfriend.
The woman said Villagomez arrived at her house at 1:50am and was knocking on the front door and demanding to see his children. The woman’s brother told Villagomez to leave as it was not a good time to visit the children at that hour. Villagomez allegedly insisted but only left when told that police would be called.
Later at 8:40pm that day, DPS sent two police officers again to the same residence after Villagomez returned.
Villagomez allegedly came on a speeding vehicle and demanded to see his children. The brother of Villagomez’s former girlfriend told him that the children were asleep.
Villagomez asked to see his former girlfriend, but the brother replied she was at work. The brother told him to leave or he would call the police.
Villagomez shouted profanities and said he has a right to see his children. He then sped away on his vehicle.
Officers spotted Villagomez’s vehicle heading south along Chalan Pale Arnold Road and pulled him over at 10:08pm. He was then arrested.
