SGA chief Teack is July Ace
Saipan Golf Association president Jung Eun Teack ruled the SGA July Ace of the Month Tournament held last Aug. 17 at the Coral Ocean Point in Obyan.
Teack, a 12 handicapper, fired 41 and 42 at the front and back nines for an 83 gross score and 71 net to enjoy a one-shot win over closest pursuer Tony Deleon Guerrero.
Deleon Guerrero compiled gross scores of 41 and 44 and with a 13-handicap gave him a 72 net, while Juan “Pan” Guerrero, 18 handicap, finished third with a 91 and a 73 net.
This is the fourth time this year that an SGA official ruled the monthly tournament after tournament director Nick Sablan’s victory in January, secretary Frances Sablan’s win in May, and the triumph of vice president Greg Sablan Jr. in June.
Treasurer Edward Sablan, a perennial Ace of the Year contender, is currently out of commission.
James Nelson (February), Alex Tudela (March), and Das Krishnan (April) are the other monthly Ace winners.
Krishnan led the closest to the pin winners that was recognized at the award banquet for winning hole No. 3, Deleon Guerrero took hole No. 7, while Teack and Nelson claimed hole No. 7 and 12, respectively.
Deleon Guerrero and Nelson were repeat winners with Rick Kautz registering the longest drives at holes Nos. 6 and 18.
The SGA August Ace of the Month Tournament will take place on Sunday, Aug. 31, at the Marianas Country Club Golf Course.
Call time is at 9am, while the tournament proper starts after one hour. (Jon Perez)
