CNMI Motheread/Fatheread holds completion ceremonies

The CNMI Motheread/Fatheread Literacy Program held a completion ceremony for parents and students at the Tanapag Youth Center and Gualo Rai Youth Center.

Six parents and three children completed the course at the Tanapag Youth Center on Aug. 22. Six parents and nine children completed the course as well for the Gualo Rai Center on Aug. 25.

“They did a great job and I congratulate them,” said Beth Demapan, CNMI Motheread/Fatheread assistant coordinator.

Parents at the Tanapag Youth Center were Maria Olopai, Junnie Masga, Lena Wabol, Frances Kaipat, Rebecca Lisua, and Amanda Castro. The children that completed the Story Exploring Course were guided by Bryan Manabat. Parent trainer Amor Rabauliman instructed the adults.

Parents that completed the program at the Gualo Rai Youth Center were Rita Demapan, Lois Weilbacher, Donya Borja, Christine Quitugua, Ana Somol, and Beatrice Weilbacher. They were guided by parent trainer Celina Foreman.

Children that completed the program for the Gualo Rai Youth Center’s Story Exploring session were Oliver Weilbacher, Leiannie Weilbacher, Jerrilyn Reyes, Elina Borja, Kimora Quitugua, Craig Borja, Joell Borja, Peter Pangelinan, and Roger Sonoda, Jr. Ignacia Reyes conducted the session.

The Northern Marianas Humanities Council, in partnership with the CNMI Public School System, Department of Community and Cultural Affairs, and the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library, administers the CNMI Motheread/ Fatheread Literacy Program.
