Alert police officers arrested three men who were allegedly caught in the act of stealing copper wire from the Koreana Hotel along Beach Road in Chalan Kanoa early Saturday morning.

Police sources disclosed that arrested were Nelson Ramon, 34; Jonathan Blas, 30; and Patrick Mendiola, 37.

The suspects are expected to be taken for an initial bail hearing today, Monday, before Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho.

A $20,000 cash bail each was initially imposed for the suspects.

Sources said a fourth person, who was allegedly part of the burglary, was at the scene and immediately confessed and cooperated with the police.

The fourth suspect was taken to the police station. Saipan Tribune opted not to disclose his name for now as it was not clear if he has also been charged.

Sources said that police received a call from a woman about a copper wire theft in progress. Officers responded to the Koreana Hotel, where they caught the suspects exiting through a small window of a generator room at about 3:30am.

Police recovered from the suspects large portions of copper wires cut into pieces of 50 to 100 feet and rolled into bundles.
