Naval Hospital Guam to conduct mass casualty drill on Aug. 28
AGANA HEIGHTS, Guam—U.S. Naval Base Guam will conduct Exercise Citadel Pacific 2014 (CP 14) from Aug. 25 to 29. U.S. Naval Hospital Guam will participate in this exercise on Aug. 28 during from 1pm to 4:30pm.
During the exercise the hospital will conduct a Mass Casualty (MASCAL) drill. There will be no acute appointments or elective surgeries available. The hospital’s Emergency Department will be open and available to accept emergent cases.
There will also be increased patrols on and around the base as a result of this planned exercise throughout the week. Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal base operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic around bases or delays in base access to include access to the hospital.
Patients that may be in surrounding areas of the drill within the hospital should not be alarmed if they see and hear increased activity associated with the exercise.
CP 14 is an annual exercise designed to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces to respond to threats to the installation and units. It is not a response to any specific threat, but is a regularly scheduled exercise. (PR)
