Two NMHC projects are nearing finish

The Northern Marianas Housing Corp. has two projects that are expected to be completed by the end of this year.

One is the Koblerville Gymnasium near Coral Ocean Point and the other is the Division of Youth Services shelter expansion.

According to NMHC corporate director Jesse S. Palacios, both projects were started earlier this year and the gymnasium is projected to be completed this December, while the shelter is expected to be completed by November.

“The gymnasium is really more for the Public School System schools at the Koblerville area and the community,” Palacios said.

Palacios said the DYS shelter expansion is for segregation of the boys and the girls that arrive at the shelter.

The DYS shelter provides housing for youth that have been abuse and neglected. NMHC conducts site visits to ensure proper maintenance and upkeep of the shelter and proper use of funds.

Palacios also noted the purchase of an ambulance and fire protection and life saving equipment for the Rota Fire Station, which should be arriving in September.
