$31.90K for 38 Rota patients, 2 others
Gov. Eloy S. Inos signed into law Friday a local bill appropriating $31,900 in poker and pachinko slot machine license fees for 38 patients from Rota as well as to partially fund the Rota scholarship and car rental payment owed by the mayor’s office.
Of the total amount, $26,400 is for the monthly subsistence allowance of 38 patients from Rota. They include those who are undergoing dialysis treatment and treatment for terminal illnesses outside the island.
Of the 38 patients, 15 are receiving treatment or staying on Rota, 14 are on Saipan, five are in Guam, two in the mainland United States, and one each in Hawaii and the Philippines.
The $26,400 subsistence allowance covers the months of May and June 2014. Each of the patients will receive anywhere from $300 to $900 for the two-month period, depending on their specific treatment.
Rep. Teresita Santos’ (R-Rota) House Local Bill 18-57, Substitute 1, is now Rota Local Law 18-14.
The new local law also appropriates $3,190 for the Rota Municipal Scholarship Foundation pursuant to a previous local law, RLL 17-2.
The remaining $2,310 is partial payment to Alamo Car Rental for the Rota mayor’s office’s outstanding account.
