The Northern Marianas Humanities Council will be featuring two war historians during the “Your Humanities Half Hour” radio program this Sunday, Aug. 10. It will air from 2pm to 2:30pm on Power 99 and is hosted by Catherine R. Perry.

The radio program will feature Courtney Short and Lisa Yoneyama, who earlier in June did presentations at the history conference at Saipan World Resort.

Yoneyama will be presenting a narrative about Japan called “Coming to Terms with America’s Justus Hostis: Remembering Japan’s Liberal Empire in Saipan” on forming the Japanese empire and its extension to Asia and the Pacific.

Short will be focusing on the Naval Military Government that operated in Okinawa from September 1945 to July 1946. Her presentation is called “The Occupation of Okinawa: Considerations of Race and Identity in Naval Military Government Policy.”
