Shame, shame on you Hopwood parents

My kids graduated from Hopwood in the mid-’80s so I attended last night’s HPTA meeting out of nostalgia. I met some dedicated and energetic teachers, the principal Mr. Barcinas, some talented students and some involved parents. Thirty-eight parents to be exact. Shame on you, Hopwood parents! Over 1,200 of your kids attend Hopwood and only 38 of you parents love and care enough for your kids to spend one-and-a-half hours talking to teachers and administrators, discussing student goals and projects and inputting your thoughts on how to better prepare your kids for the future. Shame, shame on you that didn’t show up. It’s time to force you to attend PTA meetings at all schools. Legislature, make it mandatory that parents attend PTA meetings. Any parent not attending should have to accompany the student to school for a conference before the student is let back in. Now, I could be wrong and maybe, just maybe, those 38 parents each have 32 kids in Hopwood, in which case I apologize for my harangue.
